Segovia

The acueducto in Segovia is all there, from its one foot high beginning to its highest point, shown here, at about 200 feet. The scaffolding is to implement repairs to stave off the steady degradation of the stone blocks brought on by automobile exhaust and vibrations of the structure due to auto traffic. Until this year, you could drive between the tallest support columns.

Here I am in Segovia , resting after a hard day of touring. This is in the plaza next to the catedral.

The catedral of Segovia from outside the city. The red flowers are poppies.

The alcazar of Segovia is perched on a high promontory with a river encircling 3 sides of it, but this was taken from quite a distance away so the river gorge is barely visible on the left. The tour through the alcazar is very good, with many artifacts from the different periods of its existence.

Street scene near the acueducto. The local favorite food is roast suckling pig, with a side of huge white lima beans in a soup containing the pig's ears. Mmmmmm good.

This is a traffic circle, or glorieta, viewed from the top of the acueducto. The glorieta is probably the principal cause of death in Spain, since as we all know from Kingsport - they won't work.
